Opened 2006, the Museum Gugging was especially conceived for Art Brut (Outsider Art) and is the youngest of its kind. The focus is on presentations of works by artists from Gugging with additional temporary exhibitions featuring the work of international Art Brut artists. The museum wants to throw a bridge to contemporary art and start a dialogue with artists who were influenced by Art Brut.


Das 2006 eröffnete Museum Gugging wurde für die Kunstrichtung Art Brut konzipiert und ist das jüngste seiner Art. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Präsentation von Werken der Künstler aus Gugging, Wechselausstellungen zeigen aber auch internationale Art-Brut-Künstler. Das Museum möchte Brücken zur Kunst der Gegenwart schlagen und einen Dialog mit Künstlern führen, die von Art Brut beeinflusst wurden.



Double-guided tour of the collection and temporary exhibition
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2008, 3:00–5:00 P.M.
On more than 700 square meters, the permanent exhibition “gugging classics” gives a comprehensive survey of art activities in Gugging. Until February 22, 2009, the exhibition “michel nedjar – animo.!” presents about 140 paintings and prints as well as 80 “rag dolls” (textile objects) by the artist. The show is the most comprehensive one ever shown of this presumably most important living exponent of French Art Brut.
Helmut Zambo, collector, art expert and long-time friend of the artists of Gugging, and Johann Feilacher, museum director and exhibition curator, take visitors on a very personal double-guided tour of the museum.


Doppelconférence-Führung durch die Sammlung und die Ausstellung
SAMSTAG, 22. NOVEMBER 2008, 15.00–17.00 UHR
Die Dauerausstellung „gugging classics“ gibt auf über 700 Quadratmeter Fläche einen umfassenden Überblick über Geschichte und Gegenwart der künstlerischen Aktivitäten in Gugging. Die Ausstellung „michel nedjar – animo.!“ präsentiert bis 22. Februar 2009 rund 140 Malereien und Grafiken sowie 80 „Puppen“ (Objekte aus Stoff) des Künstlers. Diese Schau ist die umfassendste, die von dem wohl bedeutendsten lebenden französischen Art-Brut-Künstler je gezeigt wurde. Helmut Zambo, Sammler, Kunstexperte und langjähriger Freund der Künstler aus Gugging, und Johann Feilacher, Direktor des Museums und Kurator der Ausstellungen, führen auf sehr persönliche Weise durch das Museum.
