The duo Romana Hagyo / Silke Maier-Gamauf enters into an artistic dialogue with Gerda Lampalzer, in which the potential of ironic shifts is explored. While Hagyo / Maier-Gamauf move between the poles of photography, sculpture and performative action, Lampalzer examines the medial translation between image, text and material. The starting point for a joint spatial installation are two ongoing projects – “Forelle und die Fluse” by Romana Hagyo / Silke Maier-Gamauf and “Parainformation” by Gerda Lampalzer. The common language of this dialogue is the textile source material, which, due to its alienation, functions as a vehicle for other content.

“Forelle und die Fluse” examines the interrelationship between bodies and clothing / textile materials, which is gender-structured and characterized by attributions. The attributions serve, among other things, the legibility and classification of bodies, but also stipulate what is known, familiar and desired. Romana Hagyo and Silke Maier-Gamauf try to use traditional textile work techniques to queer gender images and thus pursue the project-immanent intentions of irony and criticism.

The “Parainformation” series of works is based on a representation tool that has recently come into the public eye: the diagram. While public communication uses diagrams to present information clearly and in a generally understandable way, Gerda Lampalzer stripped them of their meaning and only examined the formal aspect. The result is a surprising, sometimes alienated aesthetic that invites the imagination of alternative information.
