EVENT LANGUAGE: GERMAN
Egor Lovki, winner of the PARALLEL VIENNA | Bildrecht YOUNG ARTIST Award 2024, explores the fragile architecture of expectations and their significance for the present and future in his exhibition at Bildraum 01. The assumption that time is linear and that an action (A) leads to a result (B) is called into question.
Lovki works with collectively internalized symbols and examines the fragility, ambivalence, and tensions of culturally shaped ideas. Can the future present be created from expectations, or is it inherent in the future to be unknowable and new? Expectations offer clarity and order, but they are also simplified narratives for coping with uncertainty. Not every goal manifests itself, not every step leads to the desired destination. They become a risky part of our existence. Without tension, there is no result.
The works invite us to question the linear progression of time and instead understand openness, breaks, and shifts as part of experience.
Exhibition dates: October 22 – December 4, 2025

Bildraum 01
In Vienna, once not far from the MuseumsQuartier and once directly in the heart of the Inner City, two exhibition spaces offer the best conditions for contemporary artists to position themselves in the cultural landscape.
While Bildraum 01 in Vienna’s Strauchgasse focuses on contemporary photography and graphic art, Bildraum 07 in Burggasse presents mainly painting, installation and object art.
