Since March 2023, artist Anita Fuchs has been working on a long-term project on the forecourt of the MuseumsQuartier: a 250 m² area has been freed from turf and transformed into a resilient, species-rich wild plant meadow. Under the title Versuchsfeld1, Fuchs developed this site as a living experimental space – a learning system that serves both artistic and scientific research. Versuchsfeld1 is an example of the interplay between art, science and ecological sustainability in urban space.
With the exhibition Wiesenstückin the MQ Art Box, the glass art space in the public space of the MuseumsQuartier, Versuchsfeld1 is now being condensed in terms of form and content: Anita Fuchs presents biogenic materials – the yields of the wild plant meadow, so to speak – as sculptural manifestations of her long-term project.
