We have done nothing because we have avoided nothing, delves into the concept of ‘laziness’ as a dissident, somatic, marginal mechanism of political resistance. Opening November 9th from 18-21h, the exhibition showcases a diverse selection of multimedia works challenging the notion of time as a resource to be maximized, instead highlighting the subversive power of ‘wasting time’ as a form of dissent.

Inspired by the underground Cuban magazine Revista de la Vagancia, the project is rooted in experiences of Cuban artists and their expressions of defiance against the government’s oppressive political, social and cultural frameworks. Here, idleness, sluggishness, or ‘laziness’ is not merely a state of inaction; but a paradoxical source of creativity and productivity—a deliberate response to a system that demands total participation. Alongside curated works ranging from painting and poetry to installation and digital animation, the opening of the exhibition features the launch of a special edition of the Revista de la Vagancia magazine, offering a unique glimpse into vibrant and marginalized aspects of Cuban avant-garde culture.

We have done nothing because we have avoided nothing celebrates the power of nonconformity and individual dissent against oppressive systems, revealing how apathy, fatigue, and even isolation can be potent tools for resistance.
