EVENT LANGUAGE: GERMAN SPOKEN LANGUAGE AND AUSTRIAN SIGN LANGUAGE
Sign language interpreter Eva Böhm and an art mediator from the Secession will guide you through the current exhibitions by June Crespo, John Smith and Atelier Bow-Wow. The tour will take place in German and Austrian Sign Language.
Admission and guided tour are free of charge. Maximum of 15 participants. No registration required.
About the exhibitions:
June Crespo’s sculptures are built from industrially produced elements such as ducts or large textile pieces that are a reference to the outer skins of buildings and their systems of conduction, evacuation, and climatization. When attached to the wall or built into the ground, these systems function like extensions of the body.
Josh Smith creates films on the borderline between conceptual art, structural film and documentary film without requiring any prior knowledge of avant-garde forms or artistic references. In this way, the humorous works address the audience at eye level – not only as consumers, but also as producers of meaning.
Atelier Bow-Wow is a Japanese architecture firm founded in Tokyo in 1992 by Yoshiharu Tsukamoto and Momoyo Kaijima. Their architectural interventions are not only functional, but also explorations of forms and materials, often based on experimental and conceptual approaches to design.
