Katrina Daschner’s universe of self-reflexive glamour – emitting her inner gaze in multiple ways – is tightly woven around sensual imaginaries, fervent interventions in rigid patriarchal structures, and community-oriented physicalities. Daschner is a generous storyteller who combines love and pleasure, violence and resilience, death and rebirth, all in one hand. Nurtured by an intersectional practice in film, performance, and sculpture, her confrontational and inviting visual politics dance a fluid horizon of multiple embodiments in a chorus. The stages of these cut-and-paste stories are the places where bodies dream and enact different possibilities of what else they can be, as hybrid extensions of nature.
The works presented in “GLOWING ACTS” connect some of the threads of more than two decades of her queer practice in Vienna, from Salon Lady Chutney to Club Burlesque Brutal. The paths she describes always lead to a ‘somewhere else’. Everything can be a dream; it disappears, changes and reappears.
