Eckart Hahn (born 1971 in Freiburg) addresses the sensual-haptic capacities of our perception by translating the visual language of virtual media realities into hyperrealistic images.
His dreamlike, unreal human-animal figures are characterized by old-master acrylic painting.
In doing so, he questions post-factual uncertainties and makes the surreal and paradoxical tangible.
Hahn often chooses his subject matter according to current issues such as species extinction, consumer society, commercialization,
religion, climate change, to name a few. He does not shy away from philosophical allusions and also provides insight into the existential self.
Hahn trained in photography in the early 1990s. He then studied art history at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and graphic design at the Johannes Gutenberg School in Stuttgart. He lives and works in Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg.
His exhibition “The Blending” at Galerie Crone opens on Thursday, October 20 and runs until November 26, 2022.

Galerie Crone Wien
Founded in 1982, Galerie Crone is one of the most traditional galleries for contemporary art in the German-speaking world.
In the 1980s and early 1990s, Crone showed young German artists such as Martin Kippenberger, Albert Oehlen and Rosemarie Trockel, as well as representatives of Minimal and Conceptual Art. This was followed by young German artists such as Kai Althoff, Cosima von Bonin and Daniel Richter.
In the 2010s, a second location was opened in Vienna, and in Berlin, the headquarters moved to a new location in the fall of 2018. In addition to established artists, the program was expanded to include new artists to be discovered, e.g. Peter Miller (Biennale di Venezia, 2017), Ashley Hans Scheirl (documenta 2017).
