“Intimate Illusions” is a study, both performative and poetic, of the impact of the digital world on our somatic and kinesthetic sense of self. The shiny and smooth surface of a sheet of metal, one of the most fundamental forms in metalworking, takes on the role of a significant companion to the performer in this choreography. By illuminating and reflecting everything that surrounds us, it leaves us with a flickering memory of shadowy images, bodies and landscapes. As mirror, mediator, partner, desired tool or weapon, but also as space and place, it attempts to describe the multiplicity of post-digital physicality in which we find and redefine ourselves, often in a split second.
The performance takes place as part of the group exhibition “connections unplugged, bodies rewired”.
