Barbie and Ken were regarded as the absolute dream couple. Holding hands they embodied being close friends as well as the love of their lives. One thing was always for sure: Ken is the perfect partner, the golden boy and the perfect son-in-law. Though his PVC-features aren’t ageing Ken becomes 60 this year.
The exhibition around the legendary doll addresses the construction and the transformation of the male image. It combines a new edition of Augusta Laar’s legendary Ken Walk and material from her unique Ken-collection with a current installation of Stefan Stratil`s film Vivus Funeratus. Additionally there will be a performance of the artist duo Kunst oder Unfall aka Augusta und Kalle Aldis Laar: Ken Walk Barbie Talk with electronics, talking dolls and other sound toys.
