Who ate my strawberries?

The bitter realization of two parallel current events teaches, on the one hand, that humanity has only limited real control over the external world it creates. And it feeds the even more terrible suspicion of a second loss of control, that over the inner world within ourselves. For in both the escalating climate crisis and the ever-flaring Corona pandemic, it is human behavior that is responsible for the respective escalations. Neither can we humans survive long and consistently in theoretically virus-busting isolation, nor is it conceivable to many how, for a climate-neutral future, the old fossil fuel economic system should end without major abandonment? And the question arises whether the fact that external nature is seemingly untamable, neither the virus nor the climate crisis, could perhaps also be due to the fact that we are inwardly untamable? After all, the pandemic has also shown that the restriction of public space is also a question of inner space. Because after the end of the lockdowns, you realize: the restriction often doesn’t lie on the outside, it comes from the inside. It’s about the walls within oneself. Just as it could be about the loss of control within oneself.
