‘Currently It Is Not Available in Your Country or Region’ is a participatory curatorial project that explores migration through the intimate and material perspective of personal objects. Within the context of Navigating Angst—understood not only as fear, but as a structural condition of the present—the project approaches migration as an experience in which instability becomes materialized, displaced, and resignified through objects.

If this condition, as the curatorial framework suggests, emerges from the loss of stable coordinates and from the difficulty of finding one’s bearings within political, cultural, and affective systems, migration embodies precisely that state: a rupture from the known and an entry into contexts where the rules are at once precise and incomprehensible. In this sense, migration does not merely respond to external crises; it also entails an internal transformation in which identity, belonging, and memory remain in constant negotiation.

The project begins with a simple yet significant gesture: a group of migrants are invited to select an object that has moved with them. This is not an exhibition of artists and their works, but rather an articulation of experiences through an intimate curatorial process, in which each object functions as an anchor amid uncertainty.

Faced with a world saturated by images that produce and condition perception, these objects (with an accompanying testimony) operate on a different scale: quiet, material, and not entirely translatable. They do not seek to illustrate migration, but to hold it in its fragmentary form. Museographically speaking, the objects are placed within an architectural reference to the curator’s former apartment gallery in Havana, Cuba—an intimate, censored site of independent artistic exchange. In Vienna, the installation of these objects becomes a space of re-situation, and inscribed within them are the decisions, losses, adaptations, and forms of continuity that accompany their movement, creating a space where private and public, testimony and display, intersect.

The opening of the exhibition on the occasion of Vienna Art Week is conceived as a space of encounter between individual histories and broader structures, where the public is invited to situate itself in relation to their own experiences. Rather than offering resolution, the project activates a field of resonance in which the complexity of migration is not reduced, but held open.
