Twenty-five years after its opening,
the MuseumsQuartier looks back on the tumultuous history of one of the world’s largest cultural complexes.
Through drawings, plans, models, and artistic works, the exhibition traces a broad arc from the Baroque Hofmarstall (Imperial Stables) and the Messepalast (Trade Fair Palace) to the planning and construction of the MQ.
The fundamental idea remains:
to conceive of the MQ not as a static monument,
but as a living place that changes and responds to new challenges.
At the same time, the exhibition opens up perspectives for the future of this indispensable urban space.

The MQ E+B also programs and curates a diverse public program with events, installations and exhibitions both in the outdoor areas and in its own exhibition spaces and runs an artist-in-residence program comprising eight studios.
