Tolia Astakhishvili’s Figure of the Child is the artist’s first solo museum exhibition to date.
Realized across architectural interventions, installation, paintings, drawings, and moving images, it comprises a large body of newly conceived work alongside collaborations and works from mumok’s collection.
Here, the artist’s fascination with the “figure of the child” encompasses the remarkable intellectual and creative autonomy children embody, but also their fundamental dependency and vulnerability.
