Two-Headed Horse
Agnieszka Polska and Samiees Two-Headed Horse is an exhibition about the subtleties of perfect perspective: moments that give us the ability to experience magical things in being and time. Plays of light and poetic forms that are visible only from a certain angle. Imagine the intention behind a carefully landscaped Persian garden; a blooming Chinese almond tree tenderly dropping its petals into a pond.
The transformation, however, is not only in what is observed: we, the observers, are taken on a journey that transforms both what we see and how we see. Thus we wander through the medieval treasure hunt of life: beings of darkness and light, surrounded by darkness and light, constantly bouncing off each other, in an endless dance of change.
The premise is simple: our artists are hiking together in the central European mountains, where they suddenly see and film a two-headed horse. Like chivalrous heroes on a treacherous quest for that very moment, the exhibition follows in their steps: where – and who – do you have to be to make this observation? Together we embark on an initiation: a journey along the insidious gulf between sense and nonsense, across the raging river of chaos into the knight’s hall of the castle where, hanging from the wall on a dancing flag, we finally encounter the emblem of dignity.
